The Arkansas Federation of Garden Clubs has art competitions for school-age children each year.
The Bella Vista Garden Club joins with the AFGC by encouraging children in area schools or the Boys and Girl's Club(s) to be aware of nature and their environment by reaching out to them and enabling them to enter the AFGC's competition. The Audubon Committee informs children of the competition and cheers them on to participate in a chosen project such as drawing Bird Posters, Smokey Bear/Woodsy Owl Posters, or other art assignment. The Audubon Committee then enters the finished works of art in the AFGC's competition.
Gallery show and reception honoring Bentonville Art Students was held on Sunday, April 30, 2017 at TWO25 Gallery, Main Street, Bentonville. A video is now on Youtube showing many of the students' works of art. Marion Heath, Bella Vista Garden Club’s Audubon Committee Chairman describes the Bird Poster Art Contest and interviews some of the students.
Use what talents you possess; the woods would be very silent if no birds sang there except those that sang best.
